Raritan: entry model KVM-over-IP switch

Raritan is offering its Dominion KX II-108 for a reduced recommended price. The reduction is over 500 Euro and is offered with the purchase of 8 CIM's (Computer Interface Modules). With this digital KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) server switch an ICT system admin can access up to eight servers in-band and out-band through a user friendly GUI.

The KX II-108 has the same functionality as the more expensive models, those are meant for enterprise-level data centers, like the Universal Virtual Media which allows software and files to be installed from a distance, as well as making back-ups. This functionality makes the switch perfectly suited for organisations that use multiple server rooms but lack the finances to place a system administrator on every location.

Raritan has equipped the Linux based Dominion KX II serie with all possible security options to ensure 24/7 safety on the servers and block unauthorized use. Safety features consist of 256-bit AES, 128-bit SSL or RC4 encryption, authentication with LDAP, RADIUS or Active Directory support, and an additional power connector and Ethernet port to secure the switch from 'single point of failure'.

The KX II-108 also features Raritan's Absolute Mouse Synchronization, a functionality which synchronizes the mouse cursor as soon as the switch is attached, something that should really increase installation speed.

All of the CIM's (D2CIM-VUSB) are connected with the keyboard-, monitor- and mouse ports (KVM) of the servers and are able to broadcast video signals through UTP (Cat5/5e/6) up to 45 meters. The video signals are also encrypted.
