New business VelociRaptor
Western Digital launches a new version of its VelociRaptor. The hard disk is specially designed for servers with 3.5-inch hard disks and can easily be linked to backplane using devices. The new VelociRaptor has twice the capacity and according to Western Digital it produces 35% less heat than the earlier models in the 'Raptor' line-up.
The disk has a 300 GB storage capacity in 2.5-inch format, encased in an IcePack: a 3.5" case with integrated cooling. This makes it possible for the hard disk to be installed into a regular 3.5" bay in PC or server case.
The WD VelociRaptor 150 GB (model WD150HLFS) and 300 GB (model WD300HLFS) have respective prices of 159 and 228 Euro (incl. VAT).
