Danger Den HD4870 X2 watercooling
Watercooling specialist Danger Den has finished its new full-cover waterblock for the ATI Radeon HD4870 X2 graphics card. The block is made of copper and has a transparent top, which provides the user with a visual of the cooling profiles. The water flows through a wide channel with added cooling fins around the GPU cores and PCI-Express switchchip. The memory chips and power regulators are also in contact with the cooling block, but they are only able to dissipate their heat indirectly.
The block cools only the components on the frontside of the card, this means that the eight GDDR5 memory chips on the back are cooled with small heatsinks to prevent overheating. Pricing and availability remains unknown for now.
Front featuring clear plastic
The block not only cools the GPU's and the memory, but also the PLX switch and the mosfets
